Healing the Racial Divide in the
Christian Church in America
By this shall all men know
that ye are my disciples,
if ye have love one to another.
John 13:35
Featuring “The 23rd Psalm” – A Song by Elder Harvey Pinkney
Is There a Racial Divide in the Christian Church in America?
When I asked ChatGPT this question, it responded with research showing that many observers agree there is a racial divide—or at least significant racial segregation—within the Christian church in the United States. The analysis described this divide as complex, shaped by history, culture, and social structures.
A comprehensive examination of these issues, including sociological data, historical context, and scriptural insight, is available here for further study.
But as believers in Jesus Christ who are led by the Holy Spirit, God forbid that we should draw our conclusions from technology alone. We must seek the mind and heart of Christ. We are children of God, and the answers we need are found not merely in data or studies, but in the truth and love of God revealed through His Word and His Spirit.
“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” — John 13:35 (KJV)
This is the light we are called to shine in a lost and dying world—a light that transcends racial and cultural divisions, and reveals the mercy, grace, and unity found only in Christ.
The Birth of the Racial Reconciliation Tour
This is why the Racial Reconciliation Tour was brought into being—to be a living expression of Christ’s command to love one another, and to help believers examine our hearts, our congregations, and our communities through the lens of the Gospel.
I was personally called by God to go forth with this mission—believing that if even one person is enriched, set free, empowered, and becomes a beacon of love that transcends the hatred of this world, this campaign will have accomplished its purpose.
May the Holy Spirit unite us, renew us, and use us to build bridges where division once stood, so that the church of Jesus Christ may truly reflect the glory of His Kingdom—every tribe, tongue, and nation worshiping as one.
About the Tour
The Racial Reconciliation Tour is a Spirit-led initiative designed to bring believers together across racial, denominational, and cultural lines. Through worship gatherings, open discussions, and community outreach, this tour seeks to embody the unity that Christ prayed for in John 17.
We are also developing a Reverse Tour, where white volunteers and ministers visit predominantly Black churches to share the love of Jesus and build bridges of understanding. The purpose of this outreach is to help eradicate the racial division that still exists within the Church, demonstrating in a tangible way that the love of Christ transcends color, culture, and history.
Our Mission
• To promote healing and understanding among churches and communities.
• To create safe spaces where believers can confront and overcome division through the truth of God’s Word.
• To model and inspire genuine love, repentance, and reconciliation that begins in the household of faith.
